Offshore Oil Rig Jobs – Can You Get a Job With an Offshore Oil Rigging Company?

[ad_1]

When seeking employment within the offshore oil rig industry there are many things to consider. It is essential that an individual that desires this type of employment embody certain qualities. In addition, because the salary and benefits that accompany these jobs are premium the competition for available positions is great.

Before making the decision to apply for a job with an offshore oil rig it is important that one evaluate their own strengths and weaknesses. Most positions working on oil rig are very physically demanding. So, applicants for most available positions must be in excellent health and in above average physical condition. Be prepared to submit to an extensive physical during the hiring process, because of the nature of the job no companies will hire you with out requesting a physical. Oil rigs are also isolated, so the individuals that successfully work on them tend to be independent in nature and do not have an issue being away from their loved ones for extended periods of time.

However, accommodations on most oil rigs are excellent. Many are compared to the quality one would receive while staying in an upscale hotel. Most oil rigs boast similar amenities to hotels, like cable, access to gym facilities and free meals that are rumored to be excellent. The only negative side to some accommodations is that they can tend to cramped as you are typically staying in a shared suite with up to four other individuals.

If you lack experience working in the field, you may want to consider applying for one of the many entry level positions offered aboard the oil rig your applying with. Companies tend to lean towards experienced applicants who have actually worked on an oil rig rather than in related fields. Some of the entry level positions one might consider include Deckhands, Roustabout, catering and general service staff. Taking work with an offshore rig in any position is a step in the right direction, because it gains you invaluable experience and provides numerous opportunities for advancement.

Jobs in the offshore oil industry are plentiful and many people earn a great living working them. Companies are constantly seeking both skilled and non-skilled workers to join their ranks. So, if you like to travel, love adventure and live for a good challenge than the offshore oil industry is perfect for you.

Espresso 101 – How to Choose Coffee Beans For Espresso

[ad_1]

The coffee market offers a vast array of beans of every origin, in every degree of roast and grind. With so many options to choose from, how does one go about picking the best bean for making espresso?

It is best to start with the basics. Cappuccinos and lattes are variations on espresso. They differ only in their ratio of espresso to steamed milk. Neither requires its own separate kind of bean.

The inexperienced shopper could easily be fooled into thinking that there are countless assortments of beans to chose from and be overwhelmed. Sometimes, unscrupulous marketers with take advantage of this common myth so they seem to have a larger inventory. In reality, there are only two types of beans available commercially: Arabica and Robusta.

Arabica is a high altitude bean, grown at 2,400 feet above sea lever or higher, characterized by a smooth, yet slightly acidic, taste. It is usually grown in eastern Africa and Central and South America. Robusta grows in the lower altitudes of Southeast Asia, central Africa and Latin America and has a more potent, sometimes bitter taste.

There are many methods and opinions about the best way to roast beans, but the basic process involves exposing green, raw coffee beans to high temperatures, usually about 480 degrees Fahrenheit, for seven to 12 minutes. The heat alters the beans, manipulating their natural bitterness and acidity. The beans become more bitter and less acidic the longer they are roasted.

There is no one right way to roast or grind beans for espresso. In fact, espresso is usually made with a blend of beans of different colors and consistencies. It is not uncommon for different geographical areas to favor a specific blend. For example, in northern Italy, they prefer espresso roast in the medium range, while California tastes lean toward the darker, French roast.

You are not likely to find the freshest beans in a grocery store, and you can bet on that when in comes to pre ground coffee. The best you can do in that situation is pay close attention to the expiration date. You should have better luck finding fresh beans in a coffee house, especially one that roasts in house. Naturally, they will need to roast more of the most popular, fastest selling bean more often, and it is probably the most popular for a reason. Perfect freshness comes from grinding your own just roasted beans immediately before brewing.

Quality beans are a good place to start, but by no means is that the only factor to consider when making espresso. Other things to think about are the time lapse between grinding and brewing, the time lapse since roasting, the condition of equipment and water quality. What makes the best espresso will likely be an endless debate, but the endless options ultimately boil down to a matter of preference.

The School Lunch Solution

[ad_1]

At Annabel and Luke's school today, some moms and I were discussing the school lunch dilemma. How much food should we send? What will our kids actually eat? How do we offer them variety without making ourselves crazy? How can we encourage healthy eating?

It seemed like my kids were the best eaters of the bunch. I highly doubt that's my doing--I tend to think with kids and eating habits, you get what you get, and then you keep trying! I'm lucky that my kids eat salad and live for fruit, but I know that's not always the case. So here it is, I'm no guru, but I thought I'd try to offer my best school lunch solutions:

Firstly, invest in some re-usable containers, like a small thermos, a package of small, flat tupperware, and my favorite, a sandwich cover. Our school sold the wrap-n-mats last year, and I bought two, alternating days of using and washing. And a must-have is a re-usable water bottle, like the ones from Sigg. Let's face it, using baggies might be easier, but in the long run, we'll be teaching our kids an important environmental lesson about re-using and reducing waste. Also, we'll be teaching them responsibility because they have to remember to stick the darn things back into their lunch bags and bring them home!

Here are some non-pbj ideas for sandwiches:

* mini-bagels with cream cheese or hummus

* cheese sandwich

* peanut butter and honey (and banana!)

* tortilla roll-ups with lunch meat, flavored hummus, and cheese

* veggie delight: whole wheat tortilla, ranch dressing, sliced red pepper, spinach, and cheese

You don't always have to pack a sandwich. I mean, Annabel ate pb&j three times a week last year, but it does get a little old. I like to create what I call, "Hodge-podge" lunches, which means I stick about 3-5 different random things in different containers. Today, Annabel's lunch contained: 4 baby carrots, 4 whole wheat tortilla wedges, a container with several dollops of hummus, string cheese, and a handful of graham cracker bites. What did she come home with (besides her containers)? Three of the carrots and one of the tortillas. Not bad, huh? And this took me only 5 minutes to throw together the night before!

Here are some protein-packed ideas for you:

* hummus

* canned, rinsed black beans

* string cheese or cubed cheese

* chick peas (garbanzo beans): rinse and drain a can, put on a jelly roll pan and season with garlic salt, and bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes or so, shaking the pan frequently to ensure all sides get crunchy (a GREAT potato chip alternative!)

* hard-boiled egg whites (the yolk tends to gross out my kiddos)

* tofu: Okay, I know what you're thinking. Kids, eating tofu? Tofu takes on the flavor of whatever you season it with. For you tofu-virgins, I buy the extra-firm, slice it thinly, season it with season salt or garlic, and fry it in olive oil or sesame oil till it's crispy. My kids love it! You can serve it with warm angel hair noodles and some soy sauce!

Here are some thermos ideas for you. Make the meal in the morning and it'll stay warm till lunch. If your school refrigerates lunches, ask the teacher to please leave the thermos in your child's cubby or desk:

* soup (my kids' favorite is Italian bean and pasta soup***--my recipe at the end of this post seriously makes enough for weeks, so make it ahead of time and freeze a bunch!)

* whole wheat pasta with olive oil and parmesan/ or pasta with marinara sauce

* mac and cheese

* grilled cheese: sounds a little gross, but I have a friend who makes grilled cheese in the morning, slices them into "sticks," and keeps it semi-warm in the thermos. Her kids LOVE it!

* French toast sticks

* leftovers: stews, lasagna, whatever your kid will eat!

Here are the other staples that I alternate in my children's lunches:

* yogurt

* yogurt drinks: the Yoplait Kids ones have the least sugar out of the ones at my grocery store

* sliced fruit

* ants on a log: celery with peanut butter and raisins

* cold leftover pizza

* applesauce in small containers

Trying to feed our children healthy, varied foods can be tough, I know. But if we want to increase their palettes, then we need to get a bit creative and keep introducing new, healthy foods. Look through the list above again; I'd venture to guess that you have over half of the items already in your pantry or fridge. Now get cooking, and let me know which ones are big hits at your house!

Italian Bean and Pasta Soup

2 -3 cans cannellini beans, drained

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 onion chopped

2 - 3 carrots, peeled and chopped or sliced

2 - 3 celery stalks, chopped

4 cloves garlic, minced

8 cups chicken (or vegetable!) stock

1 can diced tomatoes

salt, pepper to taste

1/2 lb small dried whole wheat elbow macaroni

olive oil and parm cheese for serving

In saucepan over medium heat, saute onion, carrots, celery and garlic in olive oil, about 8 minutes. Add liquid, beans, tomatoes, salt and bring to boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 1 hour.

Remove 2 ladlefuls of beans/veggies and blend in a blender, then return puree to pan. (I always puree the veggies, like tomatoes, that my kids say that they don't like to eat!). Season with salt, pepper and reheat gently.

Cook pasta to barely al dente. Add to soup. Simmer a few minutes. Serve with cheese and olive oil.

***If you make ahead, only add pasta when reheating.

Starcraft 2 Baneling Rush Build Order

[ad_1]

In order to use the Starcraft 2 baneling rush strategy effectively enough to subdue an opponent, your timing has to be very precise! This means you can not be slowed down by a bad build order. If the Starcraft 2 baneling rush build order you decide to use gets the wrong upgrades at the wrong time, it will usually result in the timing of your attack being too late or not strong enough to do any real damage.

Here is the best Starcraft 2 baneling rush build order I've been able to find so far:

10/10 -> Build Drones

12/10 -> Double Extractor Trick to build 2 more Drones

12/10 -> Build first Overlord

14/18 -> Build an Extractor with 3 drones mining

15/18 -> Build a Spawning Pool

15/26 -> Build a Roach Warren

15/26 -> Build a Queen

17/26 -> Build a Zergling

17/26 -> Build a Zergling

19/26 -> Build a Baneling Nest

19/26 -> Build another Overlord

19 - 28 -> Build Roaches to support Banelings

The banelings need to go in first in order to break any kind of wall your opponent might be locked up behind. This means sending them in mass numbers to make sure that your baneling rush does not get deleted quickly. Have a few roaches ready to support the attack as soon as it hits your opponent's base.

The roaches are very important simply because you can not expect success relying on one unit alone such as the baneling. The baneling's damage is great but also limited since it only has one suicide attack. Take advantage of this suicide attack by using it to take out large groups of infantry, then immediately move into roaches to kill off the remaining couple of units and destroy your opponent's buildings.

How to Use Oil Spill Booms

[ad_1]

Oil spill accidents can happen and it is wise to be prepared for such an occurrence by having oil spill booms on your vessel. It does not really matter if you are carrying tons of oil in your cargo as your ships sets sail on the sea, or if you are fishing in a calm, placid lake. If there is an oil leak, you have a major problem on your hands, and you will be responsible for it.

If this happens, then it is also your responsibility to clean up the mess. Thus it always helps to be completely prepared. For that, you have to ensure that you carry oil absorbent spill kit equipment around for emergencies.

o To control an oil spill, you have to be highly efficient and quick in dealing with the problem, before the oil spreads too far out. You can definitely call others for help, but before more aid comes your way, you must be able to control the spill immediately. It works best to have the oil cleanup products like absorbent pads and oil spill booms with you to take control of the situation yourself.

o If you have you have employees, it is best to have some type of training so you know what to do immediately in case of an oil spill before the situation gets out of hand. For this, you will have to make them go through the required training sessions, and teach them how to use the absorbent pads and oil spill booms properly. If you stay ignorant and helpless, you could be fined heavily for the damage that you will cause. Consider the training cost as an investment which will save your money in the future.

o When you spill oil, it usually will spread out thinly over the water. You need to surround the damaged area and contain the oil spill so that the chemicals do not spread any further. For this, you will need oil spill booms. These booms soak in only the oil and repel the water. The harmful chemicals are skimmed off the surface without letting any further damage being done.

o Oil spill booms contain absorbent polypropylene which is held in a casing inside a tough outer mesh. Oil spill booms come in segments that are effective even in rough water. They generally come in 10 or 20 feet in length and 5 "or 8 '' in diameter. They have carbon steel connectors on each side with a nylon rope running through them so the sections can easily be connected together.

There are some general guidelines that will help you while using an oil boom. Wear protective gears like goggles and gloves.

First find out the amount of oil that has been spilled and the amount of the damaged area. Then, connect the number of boom segments that you will need to surround the affected area.

Secure the exit points for the oil spill. Throw out on the water the oil only absorbent pads that come in the spill kit to soak up the oil that is surrounded by the oil spill booms.

The oil soaked pads and oil spill booms should be bagged once the spill is cleaned up and dispose of according to the local, state and federal regulations.

Remember, that it is required by law to report any oil spills on water and to have the necessary equipment on hand to assist in the clean up of the spill. If you are going to polluting any waterway the fines can be tremendous.

Kalonji Oil – History, Nutrition, Benefits & Uses

[ad_1]

Both Kalonji oil and seed are equally good but kalonji oil is preffered over seeds as it is 35to 50% more potent and convenient to use

Kalonji oil is made from truly a remarkable herb called nigella sativa, popularly known as Black cumin or Black seed.

Kalonji is known around the world by many names because of its ancient popular history and medicinal value viz: black caraway, roman coriander, carvi (french), schwarzkummel (german), kalonji (Hindi/urdu), kezah(Hebrew) chernushka (Russian), corek-otu(Turkish), habbat-albarakah or habbatus-sauda (Arabic) siyah daneh (Persian) etc.

Kalonji is sometimes misleadingly confused with similar looking onion seed and black sesame, both of which are totally unrelated and deffinately are not the same.

history

Kalonji seeds have been found in several sites from ancient Egypt, including Tutankhamun's tomb. Although its exact role in Egyptian culture is unknown, it is known that items entombed with a pharaoh were carefully selected to assist him in the after life.

The earliest written reference to N. sativa is thought to be in the book of Isaiah in the Old Testament where the reaping of nigella and wheat is contrasted (Isaiah 28: 25, 27). Easton's Bible dictionary states that the Hebrew word ketsah refers to without doubt to N. sativa (although not all translations are in agreement)

In Islam, it is regarded as one of the greatest forms of healing medicine available. Muhammad (S.A.W.) once stated that the black seed can heal every disease-except death-as recounted in the following hadith:

[Sahih Muslim: Book 26 Kitab As-Salam, Number 5489]

It is also included in the list of natural drugs of 'Tibb-e-Nabavi', or "Medicine of the Prophet (Muhammad)(S.A.W.)", according to the tradition "hold onto the use of the black seeds for in it is healing for all diseases except death" (Sahih Bukhari vol. 7 book 71 # 592).

Nutritional Components of Kalonji

Kalonji contains over 100 valuable nutrients. It is comprised of approximately 21% protein, 38% carbohydrates, and 35% plant fats and oils. The active ingredients of Kalonji are nigellone, thymoquinone, and fixed oils.

Kalonji contains significant proportions of protein, carbohydrates and essential unsaturated fatty acids, namely linoleic acid and gamma linolenic acid(omega3 &6), which are essential for a healty immune system other than calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, magnesium, selenium, vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin B2, niacin, and vitamin C.

Nigellon semohiprepinon is an effective treatment of bronchial asthma and respiratory allergies because of its ability to expand and relax the air ways. It also reduces the release of histamines into the bloodstream and thus works against allergic reactions.

Another active ingredient of kalonji isThymohydrochionon, also acts as an antihistamine and pain reliever.

Use of kalonji helps in synthesis of prostaglandin E1. Prostaglandin E1 suppresses the release of allergic messenger substances and harmonizes the immune system. During the course of long term use the body's defence mechanism stops its excess activity and regains its balance. This ameliorates ailments caused by allergic hyper-reactions, such as asthma, hay fever, and eczema

Long-term supplementation with Kalonji can reduce allergic symptoms greatly

It has been traditionally used for a variety of conditions and treatments related to respiratory health, stomach and intestinal health, kidney and liver function, circulatory and immune system support, as analgesic, antiinflammatory, antiallergic, antioxidants, anticancer, antiviral and for general well-being

Scientific research

Thymoquinone and pancreatic cancer treatment

Researchers at the Kimmel Cancer Center at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia have found that thymoquinone, an extract of nigella sativa seed oil, blocked pancreatic cancer cell growth and killed the cells by enhancing the process of programmed cell death, (apoptosis). While the studies are in the early stages, the findings suggest that thymoquinone could eventually have some use as a preventative strategy in patients who have gone through surgery and chemotherapy or in individuals who are at a high risk of developing cancer.

"The seeds are also rich in sterols, especially beta-sitosterol, which is known to have anticarcinogenic activity."

Foods That Cause Acne

[ad_1]

The embarrassing condition of acne has been blamed on a wide variety of causes throughout the ages. Many people unjustly blame individuals with acne-prone skin of being dirty or failing to wash their faces properly. This is obviously far from the truth as acne can strike anyone, regardless of their personal hygiene habits. Others believe that eating large amounts of chocolate will ensure an acne breakout. This is also not the case, but research has linked acne to choices a person's diet. We are going to discuss some types of foods that cause acne.

Foods that are highly acidic tend to cause acne as they create an imbalance in your body's pH levels. The foods you should avoid include the following:

  • Vegetables: lentils, squash, corn
  • Fruits: currants, plums, prunes, cranberries and blueberries
  • Grains: barley, cornstarch, oatmeal, wheat bran, amaranth, rice, rye, wheat germ, noodles, macaroni, spaghetti, bread, soda crackers, white flour, rolled oats and wheat flour
  • Beans & Legumes: chick peas, green peas, kidney beans, pinto beans, red beans, soy beans, black beans and white beans
  • Dairy Products: butter, ice cream, processed cheese, butter and ice milk
  • Nuts & Butters: peanuts, pecans, walnuts, cashews and peanut butter
  • Animal Proteins: bacon, beef, pork, salmon, lamb, fish, clams, cod, mussels, sausage, scallops, turkey, venison, shrimp and lobster
  • Fats & Oils: canola oil, lard, olive oil, sesame oil, sunflower oil, hemp seed oil and safflower oil
  • Sweeteners: corn syrup, sugar and carob
  • Alcohol: spirits, hard liquor, wine and beer
  • Condiments: vinegar, pepper, ketchup and mustard
  • Drinks: coffee and soft drinks
  • Drugs & chemicals: aspirin, pesticides, tobacco and herbicides

If you want to prevent or minimize acne breakouts, you should replace acidic food with alkaline food choices. Some examples include carrots, cucumbers, garlic, lettuce, tomatoes, apples, grapes, lemons, pineapples, raisins, strawberries, peaches, oranges and almonds. You may be surprised to see so many citrus fruits on this list. The reason is that the specific citric acid they each contain has an alkalinizing effect on your body that will actually reduce the level of acidity, rather than increase it.

Rather than making an effort to avoid one specific type of food, it is better to avoid groups of acidic foods that will enhance your acne. Replace some of the choices in the first list with more alkaline foods from the second list. You will soon discover that small changes in your diet can produce big results!

The 5 Most Important Benefits Of Fish Oil Pills

[ad_1]

There are around five benefits of fish oil pills that are deemed very important and are backed by clinical studies. Fish supplements have gotten to be very popular after it was learned that it contains numerous benefits. But not everyone knows that not all fish all are health beneficial, because not all contain Omega 3 fatty acids. So when you happen to find omega 3 fish products in the market, do not buy them without first determining their components. What you need to watch out for in particular is the ratio of EPA to DPA - it must be 3: 1 or at least 2: 1.

You also have to see it that the fish supplement is molecularly distilled because then you can be almost sure that it does not carry any toxic substances. As you must know, many fish sources of omega 3 do not swim in clean waters. The environmental situation has gone from bad to worse. Toxic materials are being thrown into the ocean where the fish swim. Over time, these toxins accumulate in the fish's body. Apparently, it is not enough that you will certainly wash the fish before eating it or before processing it to turn them into supplements. To effectively remove the toxins, the fish oil must go through molecular distillation. Not all manufacturers of fish supplements do this. Some are claiming that the process would only destroy the nutritional value of the oil, and that nothing could be healthier than unprocessed pure and natural fish oil. Then again, consuming the toxins along with the fish oil can not be a healthier alternative, either.

Anyhow, for as long as you take high quality fish supplement, you will be enjoying the following benefits of fish oil pills:

* Good Heart Health. This is probably one of the more popular fish oil benefits. The Omega-3 fatty acids in fish help reduce bad cholesterol while increasing the good cholesterol at the same time. This way, you lower your risk for strokes, heart attacks, and other heart diseases that are triggered by increasing cholesterol levels in the blood.

* Healthy Brain Development. The brain being made up mostly of fats needs fats for its nourishment. The omega-3 fatty acids in fish help to take care of this need. People who take the recommended dose of Omega-3 fatty acids each day improve their focus and memory. These essential fatty acids may also contribute to higher intelligence levels in school-aged children.

* Reduced Pain and Inflammation. The Omega-3 fatty acids affect how your body reacts to inflammation. By regulating inflammatory processes, the Omega-3 fatty acids in fish help reduce joint pain and inflammation.

* Reduced Symptoms of Depression. Depressed individuals have something to smile about. Omega-3 has been found to less depression and give one a happier disposition.

* Control and Management of ADHD. Childhood disorders such as ADHD and ADD are better managed with Omega-3 fatty acids.

Actually, when you search the World Wide Web, you will discover that there are actually a lot more benefits, but then you might want to focus on these five benefits of fish oil pills as these have been tested and proven already.

How to Do Pushups If You Have Bad Knees

[ad_1]

One of my readers, who has been working himself back into good shape, sent in a question about doing pushups, even though he has bad knees. He wanted to know how he could still do pushups, but avoid getting down on the floor. Luckily, I have an answer for his question.

For every standard exercise, there is usually a variation of that exercise that you can do. For instance, when many people start with regular pushups, they can't do them very well, because they don't have enough strength in the arms and shoulders to propel themselves up and down. In this case, you should start doing pushups with your knees on the floor and build up to the point where you can do regular pushups. It won't take very long for this to happen, if you are doing regular exercise.

If you have bad knees, you can do wall pushups. First, you find the nearest wall, which shouldn't be too hard. Then, you place your hands on the wall in the same relative position you would place them on the floor, ie., shoulder width apart. Then, you move your feet back from the wall, to create an angle.

When I started doing these, my feet were about 24 inches from the wall. As I got better, I started progressively moving my feet a little farther back and now, I can easily do these with my feet 36 inches away from the wall. You lean into the wall, get balanced on the front of your feet and start moving, pressing up and down. You adjust your angle, so that your back is straight, just as if you were on the floor.

You can do almost any pushup variation this way and it won't affect your knees at all. I have done a bunch of variations in this way, like military pushups, wide arm pushups, diamond pushups, fingertip pushups and...believe it, or not...one arm pushups and even one arm, fingertip pushups. At the moment, I am working on one arm, two-finger pushups.

Exercise can be extremely creative, so don't think that just because you have a problem area, that you can't work out. Because with a little imagination, you can avoid the problem area and get the rest of you running like a top. Many times, this will even help the problem area.

Of course, if you have a very serious problem, you should discuss what you are going to do with your doctor and get approval, first. There are many physical therapists and trainers who can also provide you with safe and alternative exercise programs, to help you get stronger.

This morning, while watching Imus on Fox, he gave fish oil a huge plug. Since being diagnosed with cancer years ago, he changed his lifestyle completely and it looks like he has beaten cancer. Fish oil is a big part of his routine and he said it has made a big difference in the way he feels. Prior to being diagnosed with cancer, Imus, by his own admission, was a poster boy for how NOT to be healthy and said that he was very lucky to get off with just a warning.

Getting Rid Of Acne With The Amazing Oil Cleansing Method

[ad_1]

If you have acne and are not oil cleansing, what are you waiting for? Oil cleansing is probably one of the best holistic ways of getting rid of acne. Continue reading to discover more about the oil cleansing method including why it works, and great tips on how to make it work for you to eliminate acne without any harsh acne treatments.

Using oil to cleanse?

It sounds like something a crazy person came up with and maybe they were a little bit crazy!

If you are struggling with acne, you probably think that any type of oil is the enemy but it is important to remember that the reason that acne develops is complex and still not very well understood.

While it looks that it is mostly those with oily skin who seem to have acne (although it can affect those with normal or dry skin also), you may think that the reason for your acne is the excess oil production by the oil glands under your skin.

Acne is not just because of excessive sebum (oil) that becomes trapped in your pores. It is believed to also involve shed skin cells that mix with the oil and become trapped. When combined with the bacterium that cause acne (known as Propionibacterium acnes ) which release enzymes that lead to the inflammation of the hair follicle, it can lead to acne. Other types of acne are also due to hormone imbalance, stress, etc.

So oil is not the enemy per se although excess oil that clogs pores can help to set the groundwork which is why doing everything you can to ensure your pores are not clogged is key and cleaning is an important part of this.

The oil cleaning method - like eliminates like?

Cleansing is an important part of getting rid of acne but unfortunately too many products on the market fail at this simple task even those that are targeted for acne prone skin. Some may even contain acne fighting ingredients like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide but still not only be able to improve the skin but actually make your acne worse dependent on the characteristics of your skin and the reasons for your acne.

One reason that many of these products are not the solution is that many of them strip the skin of oil. Salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide can be very dry especially when products containing these ingredients are used excessively.

By drying out the skin, it actually worsens the issue because excessively dry skin triggers the oil glands to produce more oil to compensate for this dryness leading to more clogged pores which provide the perfect environment for acne causing bacteria to thrive and the vicious cycle continues. Many of these products also contain many harsh skin irritants such as fragrance which can make your skin and acne worse.

This is why the oil cleansing method is one of the best ways of getting rid of acne naturally and without any harsh chemicals that strip the skin. That is not to say that you will not be able to find gentle cleansers that will not strip your skin and that contain good ingredients on the market. I am sure that if you search long enough and experiment long enough, you will find a cleaner that gives your skin everything you need.

But why go through all that when there is something very simple at your fingertips that makes all the sense in the world? It may sound crazy but oil is the best way to get rid of oil. That is the crux of the oil cleaning method. It eliminates the excess oil produced by your oil glands that are clogging up your pores and because you are using an oil, it will not dry out your skin therefore your oil glands will not be triggered into action to produce excess pore clogging oil.

Over time, these works as one of the best ways of getting rid of acne without your acne is of course due to hormone imbalance, stress, etc, and you may need to use other methods for getting rid of this acne such are stress management, balancing your hormones using various methods, etc.

If your acne is due to clogged pores (excessive oil + shed skin cells + bacteria), the oil cleansing method is one of the best ways of getting rid of acne. Do keep in mind that excess oil production can also be tied to the activity of the male hormone testosterone that both men and women have (although men have this hormone in greater amounts than women obviously).

Oil cleaning method basics

  1. You will need hot running water or hot water in a bowl. You can do this in or out of the shower or bath. You will also need your oil or oil blend and soft clean washcloths.
  2. You will massage an oil or oil blend preferably into the skin for two to three minutes as this helps to loosen the oil and unclog pores. Take your time to ensure all areas of your face and problem areas have been deeply massaged with the oil.
  3. Steam your face or apply a warm washcloth soaked in the hot water to your face for a minute or two to further open up the pores allowing the oil or oils to penetrate the pores to help unclog them. The heat helps the pores open up. If using a face towel, once the first towel you use cools, replace it with another one and so on.
  4. Use the warm towel to wipe all the oils from your face and viola, you are done with cleansing your face!
  5. You may follow up with a moisturizer or a drop or two of the oil to moisturize your face but this is optional since many people find that their face does not need an additional moisturizer or oil following the oil cleaning method.

What oils to use?

Castor oil

Castor oil is used as the foundation of the oil cleaning method but depending on your skin type (oily, normal, dry or combination) you will use less or more of this oil.

Castor oil is the foundation because it is believed to be the best for using in this method because it has many healing and cleansing properties in addition to being anti-inflammatory which is why it is commonly used in many natural healing methods for various diseases and conditions and not just acne.

Other oils used

Other oils are usually added to castor oil because castor oil is a very thick oil and will pull the skin if used alone because it is not easy to spread. Other oils are added to make the blend easier to use and spread the oil on the skin. Many other oils also contain many healing and anti-inflammatory properties.

Common thinner oils added to castor oil include olive, avocado, grapeseed, apricot kernel, sunflower seed, sweet almond, jojoba, hazelnut, etc.

Best oil ratios for the oil cleaning method

  • For oily skin use 30 percent castor oil to 70 percent other oil (sunflower seed oil, grapeseed and sweet almond oil are best)
  • For normal skin use 20 percent castor oil to 80 percent other oil (sunflower, grapeseed, jojoba, apricot kernel, sweet almond oil are best)
  • For dry skin use 10 percent castor oil to 90 percent other oil (avocado or apricot kernel oil are best)
  • For acneone skin skin, the best oils to mix with castor oil are sunflower seed and hazelnut oils.

The above are just a general guideline. Play with the ratios and with the oils to see what works best for you. You can also add a drop or two of various other oils to this blend such as argan, tamanu, neem or turmeric oil (great for acne prone skin), etc.

Important tips for achieving glowing acne free skin with the oil cleansing method

  1. For those with acne pronone skin, you may want to avoid using olive oil and coconut oil (coconut oil is comedogenic which means it clogs pores). Some people report a worsening of acne when they use these two oils either alone or in a blend. Jojoba oil may also be an issue for some people.
  2. Keep a large supply of face cloths and clean them well.
  3. Many of these oils are derived from nuts so you may develop an allergic reaction if you are allergic to nuts. If this occurs, stop and only use oils not derived from nuts (grapeseed, sunflower seed, etc).
  4. Do keep in mind that this oil can be drying for some people so either reduce the amount used in the oil blend or eliminate it entirely. It is up to you but if you eliminate it, do remember that you will have to wipe your face very well.
  5. Make sure your wash cloths are very clean and avoid using a fabric softener when you wash them to ensure that they are free of any residue or synthetics which fabric softener will leave behind.
  6. For best results and for skin beneficial results, only use oils that are cold or expeller pressed, organic and unrefined as these contain the most healing properties without any other additives.
  7. In addition, this cleaning method is one of the best ways of getting rid of makeup at the end of the day including eye makeup.
  8. You probably only need to use the oil cleansing method once a day in the evening. All you may need to do in the morning is just wipe your face with a damp washcloth.

Using the oil cleansing method is one of the best ways for getting rid of acne.

Coconut Oil For Hair Care And Skin Care – Part 2

[ad_1]

Why Coconut Oil?

Coconut oil is one of nature's best beauty secrets. It's one of nature's most abundant sources of medium chain triglycerides (MCT). The predominant fatty acid chain found is lauric acid. This has unique anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. It is similar to mother's breast milk in its healing effects.

Not all coconut oil is the same. The consumer needs to look for an extra virgin - one that has not been refined. This is the only true natural form. Organic extra virgin is acceptable as long as it has not been refined.

Scientific research shows its health benefits affect the entire body - inside and out. Replace vegetable oil with it in your cooking. Use it to spread on toast and to put on popcorn. The Extra Virgin Coconut Oil will be in a solid form when less than 76 degrees. Above 76 degrees it will liquefy.

It Aids In The following Conditions:

  • Dry scalp
  • Yeast infection on the skin
  • Eczema
  • Psoriasis
  • Rosacea
  • Keratosis polaris

How to Use For Hair Care

Hair conditioner. Use a quarter size amount and rub into hair from the scalp to the roots. If you have thin hair, you may not want to use on the roots. You can leave it on overnight. Place a shower cap on while you sleep. Or simply put a towel on your pillow to protect it from the oil. Wash out with shampoo in the morning.

Frizzy ends or dry ends. Simply rub in a small amount onto the ends of the hair.

Dry scalp. Massage into scalp and leave overnight.

How to Use For Skin Care

Body Moisturizer and Hand Lotion. Use as you would any other moisturizer. As a note --- commercial moisturizers contain a lot of water. It may feel like your skin is getting the moisture it needs, until the water dries, then your skin will feel dry again.

Facial cleanser. Remember that it has anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties. This makes it such a great option as a cleanser. Plus, it has antioxidants to diminish fine lines and wrinkles. Gently massage it into your face for 30 seconds. Apply a warm, wet cotton washcloth. Wait 15 to 30 seconds and remove the oil with the washcloth. It will absorb into the skin and help to moisturize.

Also good for: eye cream, eye make-up remover, shaving cream, diaper rash, sunburn care, and massage oil. Use with sea salt for a body scrub.

You, as the consumer

As a consumer, it is best to be informed and educated in the products we use for our hair and skin. Knowing that what we put on our skin gets absorbed into our bloodstream. Coconut oil for hair care and skin care is free from harmful chemicals. It is a natural solution and healthy and safe option for beauty

Oil Change – Things You Should Keep in Mind

[ad_1]

There are all kinds of things that could go wrong with a car. Cars are complex machines that have all kinds of parts that could fail at any time, even if you properly maintain them. The failure of a car part can ruin your day. Maybe you are on the way to a very important appointment and then all of a sudden your car breaks down on the side of the road and you are stuck, kicking at your tire in futile despair. Not only will you miss the appointment but you will also be thrown off-track for all the other things you may need to be doing that day, and probably stay in a funk for a while. Not only that, but you will then have to schedule maintenance of your car and that will take time away from other important appointments. Because we use cars so much, it is important to keep them in pretty good shape. One of the most important things to do to keep a car in shape is have an oil change on a regular basis.

When you are in the market for an oil change, there are a few things you should keep in mind to make sure that you choose the right people. As we all know, engines are complicated systems that have all kinds of moving parts. There are lubricants inside the engine that make sure it is running smoothly and that the friction is kept to a minimum. If an engine has too much friction, parts begin to break down quickly and you could be in serious trouble. Having the lubricants changed in your car can make the parts last much longer and can save you possibly having to pay more to replace broken parts if the engine creates too much friction. Many professionals will swap your lubricant professionally to keep your car lubed and running smoothly. Find a professional to help you out today!

Another thing you will probably be thinking about when you are looking for somebody to give you an oil change is the pricing. Since most people recommend you get an oil change for your car every three-thousand miles, you should make sure that the pricing is reasonable because you will be back for more service before you know it. Keeping your lubricants in tip-top shape can make sure your car remains in awesome shape and is less likely to give you problems or suffer failure.

Another thing to consider when in the market for this type of service is the way the business and employees treat you. Many make sure to treat you personally and just like you were their neighbor. This kind of treatment can make you feel at home and can have you excited about visiting these professionals again and again.

Be sure that the guys you hire are really professional and expert technicians. If they are experts they will be able to tune up your car quickly and they will be able to do this work at a high-quality standard. An oil change does not have to be a big deal. The right professionals can do this work really fast and you can be back on the road before you know it. And if you are sure to find the most professional service providers to swap your lubricants you can be sure that the work they do is of the highest quality. These trustworthy workers can make sure your engine is running clean and make sure that you do not suffer a failure that leaves you without a vehicle for too much time.

If you find the right professionals to change your oil, you will be happy with the service and you can be assured that your car will work better than any time in recent memory. These trustworthy workers can make sure your vehicle is running well for the road and is not in danger of having further problems. They can even help you be more aware of some signs of issues so that you can tackle things before they become bigger problems. Keeping these things in consideration can make your decision that much more informed.

The Pros And Cons Of Fracking

[ad_1]

Hydraulic fracturing or fracking as it is more commonly known, is, in a nutshell, a procedure for extracting oil or gas from bedrock. The method involves pumping high pressure fluid into drill holes in the rocks to create fractures and this provides an escape route for the gas or oil. Some rocks are naturally more difficult to extract gas from and these require extra fracturing by injecting pressurized water into the fractures. Further chemicals are then inserted to enable the fractures to remain open so that extraction can occur. Fracking is a fairly new technique and has already caused a great deal of controversy. Some countries have already planned its use even though there is a huge amount of untapped energy. France was first to ban fracking over concerns that water courses could become irreparably polluted and is of the firm belief that a cleaner extraction method will be developed. In the United Kingdom, fracking was permitted but following several small earthquakes that occurred in the area and at around the same time as the fracking activity, it was banned. The ban has now been lifted with the provisio that if further minor earthquakes occur, it will be banned again. The United States appears to have very mixed views with some states allowing fracking while others will not.

The benefits are that there is a vast amount of natural gas and oil that is locked into the rocks underneath the earth's surface. By tapping in to such a reservoir a nation's dependency on other countries for their energy supplies could be greatly reduced or even stopped altogether. It would create a huge number of jobs which would benefit the economy. The use of hydraulic fracturing could also extract gas or oil which remains in existing mines or wells and is unable to be extracted using traditional methods. This means that existing waste can be extracted and put to good use, making the existing well or mine more productive. Fracking is cheaper than other currently available methods for extracting natural gas or oil from rock. New methods for dealing with waste water and other waste products are being developed and these will help prevent pollution and endangerment of the environment.

The number one concern of opponents is pollution. Contamination of the water course is a major concern not only to Governments, residents and environmentalists but also to the companies themselves. The water used in fracking can be decontaminated and re-used to a point but there are a number of chemicals that are added and make it particularly nasty if it were to be spilt. At the moment, a good deal of the polluted water is pumped into underground disposal wells and this is where the possibility of pollution of the watercourse could occur. The waste water could leach through the rocks and into waterways causing a massive problem not only to the environment but also potentially to the health of people nearby.

Another concern is the occurrence of minor earth tremors in areas where hydraulic fracturing is taking place. It is not known what the long term impact of fracking will be and we do not know if it will increase the incidences of tremors or quakes in the region.

As hydraulic fracturing is quite new, there is a lot we do not know about the effects of this technique. However, there is such a vast amount of potential energy available that many countries can not afford not to do it. Technology will advance and better methods for extraction will emerge but in the meantime, we need to be sure that we are not creating problems for the future.

A Quick Guide to Understanding a Quality Fish Oil Review

[ad_1]

By the time you finish reading this article, you'll have an excellent grasp on how to identify and understand a quality fish oil review and will know how you can use one of these excellent tools to not only lead you to the best product to suit your needs, but also to save you loads of time and money.

A fish oil review is just like any other review, and if used properly, can save you a lot of time and hassle by quickly cutting through poorly made products, and leaving the premium ones to rise to the top.

An individual who conducts a fish oil review will typically set out to test different products either by purchasing them all, or using samples. Once this is done, the reviewer tries each brand and then reports the personal experiences with the products in an organized comparative format for you to look at. The information should be as unbiased as possible, although this can be very hard to achieve since personal tastes can vary so much.

Here are some important things you need to be diligent about:

Make Sure the People Reporting on the Fish Oil Review are Credible

Have they used the supplements themselves? Is their information articulated in a specific and knowledgeable manner? Does the reviewer make claims that can be quickly verified by doing a search on Google, or does the reviewer make claims that seem dubious?

The following are the 5 essential topics that must be addressed by the reviewer. If you do not see these topics, do not bother reading the review. These topics are:

Purity

When it comes to health products, you can never underestimate the importance of purity in the product. Purity is absolutely the most important aspect of fish oil and should never be overlooked for any reason because your health can be impacted. A quality fish oil review will address this issue head on and will openly talk about how purification processes differ between reviewed companies.

Freshness

Freshness is another essential topic to any good fish oil review. The reviewer should open discuss any pros, cons, and best practices regarding freshness in a review, no exceptions.

Transparency

A quality fish oil review should not only cover the product in depth, but should also cover the company that manufactures the product. Does the reviewer discuss customer testimonials, customer support, rewards and offer comparisons to other reviewed companies? Does the reviewer mention research practices, inspection practices and other health-related policies? Does the reviewer offer a comparative discussion covering how these differ from company to company? A company should always keep its activities open to public view, especially when it comes to your health. A responsible reviewer will understand this and make it a point to address this important topic in an unbiased manner.

Customer Testimonials

A good fish oil review will mention a company's credibility and point towards customer testimonials. Since no one speaks the truth like one customer to another, specific testimonials can carry a lot of weight. A good reviewer will make note of those companies that have bragging rights when it comes to customer satisfaction and use them well in the review.

Price

Any good fish oil review always covers the topic of cost. A good review usually allegations any current or ongoing company promotions and draws conclusions about value. Is product A better than product B because it's twice the cost? Is product C worth the extra cost because it has a specific ingredient? These are the questions a good review will address. Only opinions can be offered, but sometimes hearing these opinions voiced openly can help you arrive at your own conclusions more effectively.

Now that you're armed with this information you will be quickly able to tell the difference between a good fish oil review and a bogus one. A good review has one goal: to provide you with accurate information based on personal experience. If this element is absent, it's time to move on to another offer.

Fish Oil and Children -The Durham Trials

[ad_1]

Research has revealed that if the brain doesn't get enough of the right fatty acids, it will use replacement fatty acids which are not ideal and this can have a negative impact on the way the brain functions. Consequently, fatty acid deficiencies are a factor worthy of consideration with regard to learning difficulties and behaviour problems in children.

The Local Education Authority in Durham England were concerned at the increasing number of children who appeared to be underachieving because of an inability to concentrate and focus on a task for any length of time and sought to find out whether supplementing their diets with omega 3 fatty acids might make a difference.

Dozens of schools and hundreds of children have now taken part in several research trials involving fatty acid supplementation by way of fish oil. These trials, led by Dr. Madeleine Portwood, have now become known as the Durham trials and are receiving significant media attention both in the UK and abroad for the dramatic effects that fish oil appears to have on learning and behaviour in the classroom. So far, studies have been carried out on preschool, primary and secondary school children.

The Oxford Durham Study

The largest of these trials was carried out in 2002 and involved more than 100 primary school children from 12 different schools in the Durham area, all of who had developmental coordination disorder, and some with additional problems related to concentration and learning. This trial, known as the Oxford-Durham Trial, was run in collaboration with the Dyslexia Research trust based in Oxford, and Dr Alex Richardson from Oxford University, who is an expert on fatty acids and the brain.

The children in the trial were given a daily capsule of either fish oil or a placebo and as the trial was double blind, no one knew which child was given what. During the week, the children were administered the supplement by school staff. Each child was given six 500mg capsules a day from Monday to Friday, each capsule containing either fish oil or a placebo. The parents gave the children the capsules at the weekends and assessments were made regularly throughout the trial.

It can take weeks for the effect of fatty acid supplementation to show so the trial was conducted over a six month period with half of the children taking fish oil for the entire 6 months and the other half taking a placebo for the first 3 months and fish oil for the second 3 months.

In the first 3 months, those on the fish oil from the start showed dramatic improvements in reading, spelling and behaviour with the placebo group showing similar improvements when they too started taking the fish oil. In the original fish oil group, in the first 3 months, the average gain for reading was over 9 months and just over 6 months for spelling and they continued to show an improvement beyond the first 3 months. When the placebo group switched to fish oil, they showed a reading gain of over 12 months and over 6 months for spelling after just 3 months on fish oil.

The results of this trial haven't yet been fully analysed but the early indications are "encouraging" and according to Dr Madeleine Portwood, up to 40% of the children have shown significant improvements.

Preschool Trial

Another Durham trial involved nursery school children between the ages of 18 months and two and half years old, 47 of which completed the trial. After 5 months 91% of those who were rated as having very poor behaviour at the start of the trial had improved, with only 4% rated as still having poor or very poor behaviour.

Similar improvements were seen for concentration levels with 79% rated as having good or very good levels of concentration after 5 months supplementation. Language skills also improved significantly compared to the control groups.

Secondary school study

This study was conducted in 2004 and concentrated on how fatty acids could help secondary school children with symptoms of ADHD; the results were released in March, 2006.

At the beginning of the trial, 94% were rated as having moderate to severe ADHD and the same score for inattention, and 89% as having additional problems with impulsivity. After 3 months, the ratings for ADHD and impulsivity were reduced to 28% with inattention dropping to just 17%.

Conclusion

The results of the Durham Trials appear to validate claims that the brain needs the right kind of fatty acids to develop and function normally. The fish oil used in these trials were high in the Omega 3 fatty acid EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid), which is thought to be the fatty acid mostly responsible for efficient functioning of the brain itself.

Fish oil is rapidly gaining recognition for being an effective way of improving not only brain function, but lowering the risk of developing other health problems too, so much so that the UK government is considering the option of giving fish oil to all school children in order to improve nutrition in general.

The plant's origins are in Europe but it is now widely grown across the globe.

Initially it was treated as species, but globally it is now agreed upon as to be a hybrid. The major use of peppermint lies in the use of its oil. Peppermint is usually considered to be the oldest known medicine for more than 10 thousand years. Menthol is the major constituent of peppermint which makes its use viable in various product range, ranging from ice creams, mouth fresheners, chewing gums and tea.

The oil extracted from peppermint contains chemical compounds like mentyl esters, menthone and also menthyl acetate. Peppermint has been the earliest and famous flavor for the confectionery. Many shampoos and soaps contain peppermint oil in it, in order to provide a cooling and soothing sensation on skin when applied. In fact here is one technique which will beautify your bathing hours. Peppermint also contains antiseptic properties, so it is widely utilized in varieties of toothpastes, as it helps the teeth fight decay and germs, and especially; removes bad breath. One thing to be taken care of though is the fact that, even though peppermint oil is widely used in various home remedy methods, one should not use this oil when there are heartburn, as it can cause the sphincter that lies in between the stomach and the esophagus to relax, which again can cause worsened heartburn.

Not just on our body, but peppermint oil can also be used as an ant repellent. Mix peppermint oil and water in equal proportions and then spray in home around the ants liberty areas, and you'll notice within a day or two that ants have disappeared, and you should not have them back at least for a week or two.

What You Should Know About Massage Oils

[ad_1]

There are so many massage oil products on the market today, in this article we'll take a look at various types, which ones to choose from, and which ones to avoid like the plague.

There are two main groups of oils used: vegetable fats and oils, and mineral oils. Many massage products today contain mineral oils. They are synthetic, and even though they have a long shelf life and provide good lubrication, they can be very bad for the skin and body.

Mineral Oils create a thin film on the surface of the skin, which clogs the pores and stops the skin from breathing. Also, they do not contain any vitamins and disrupt the body's natural ability to absorb fat soluble vitamins. Even though mineral oils appear to moisturize the skin, in reality they are preventing normal, healthy functioning. The skin becomes dependent on these mineral oils and with long-term use these results in a deterioration of the skin's ability to stay healthy.

Vegetable fats and oils on the other hand are easily absorbed by the skin and give vital energy to the body. They are used to create new cells. Most vegetable oils contain vitamins which are necessary for healthy skin. They also soften the skin and help it to retain moisture. Certain vegetable oils with a lot of monounsaturated fatty acids like Avocado and Almond oil provide great lubrication, keep well, and nourish the skin.

The other group of massage oils that are used are Polyunsaturated fatty acids. A lack of these essential fatty acids can lead to rashes, eczema and dry skin. These oils act as a vitamin for the skin.

A couple types of polyunsaturated fatty acids are Linoleic and Linolenic acid. They need to be combined with vitamin E to stop them from going bad quickly. They are thin liquids which are easily absorbed by the skin, drier than other fatty acids and they reduce the size of skin pores. They are great for people with oily skin and large pores. Some vegetable oils that contain a lot of polyunsaturated acids are Sunflower Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and Grape Seed Oil.

Oils should always be Cold Pressed to make sure that the vitamins and fatty acids are not destroyed during the manufacturing process. Most commercial grade vegetable oils which are intended for use in cooking are obtained by solvent extraction and then refined which destroys most of the beneficial properties in the oil.

Now we'll take a look at some of the properties of the most popular healthy oils:

Almond oil is an excellent emollient (softens and soothes the skin) and helps the skin to keep it's moisture balance. This is one of the more popular carrier oils used in aromatherapy and massage as it's non-greasy, spreads easy and is great for nourishing the skin.

Jojoba oil is also an excellent moisturizer and is great for all skin types. It can usually be used on blemished skin without irritation. Jojoba penetrates the skin easily and is suitable for all skin types. Preferably, Jojoba should be blended with other oils as on it's own it does not give enough nourishment to the skin. Also, Jojoba keeps for up to 5 years before it goes bad. Grapeseed oil is rich in linoleic acid. It is known to have regenerative and restructuring quantites as well as excellent moisturizing properties.

Grapeseed oil is non-greasy and contains vitamins, minerals, protein, Gamma Linoleic Acid, and a small amount of vitamin E.

Apricot oil has moisturizing, nourishing and revitalizing properties and is particularly helpful for dehydrated, delicate, mature and sensitive skin. It also helps to soothe infection. This finely textured oil spreads easily and is particularly rich in oileic acid and linoleic acid.

Avocado oil is often used for clients with dry or mature skin, and for people with eczema, psoriasis or similar conditions. It is also very useful for treating skin that is damaged, dehydrated and undernourished. It is known to regenerate the skin and soften the tissue. Although it can be used pure, it is in most cases mixed with another carrier like Almond oil or Grapeseed. It is easily absorbed into the skin and deep tissue and excellent emollient properties.

Wheat germ oil has a high vitamin E substance and lots of essential fatty acids. It is known to help promote a smoother, youngger looking skin and assists in healing scar tissues as well as stretch marks. It is too sticky to use on its own, but it is excellent when blended with lighter carriers such as almond oil. It is known to to promote the formation of new cells, improve circulation and help repair sun damage. Also it is helpful for the symptoms of dermatitis. This carrier is known to stimulate tissue regeneration and is often added to other blends because of its antioxidant properties.

Hazelnut oil is fine in texture and has excellent moisturizing properties. Hazelnut can also help tone and tighten the skin while strengthening capillaries and assisting in cell regeneration.

I suggest that you experiment with mixing different oils together and see how your skin responds. We all have different types of skin and what works well for one person may not work for another. Remember to use Cold-pressed oils whenever possible, they may cost more but your skin is worth it.

Essential Oils for Fibromyalgia

[ad_1]

Fibromyalgia is a complex and baffling health condition that is reaching epidemic proportions in the United States and Canada. It is estimated that approximately 5 million Americans are suffering from this condition. Because conventional medicine has very few effective options to offer at this point, people with this condition are often branded as hypochondriacs and told that their problem is in their head.

Many people with fibromyalgia experience severe and debilitating pain that tend to move around the body. In addition, people with this condition often exhibit neurological problems that can manifest as memory loss, difficulty concentrating, anxiety, and depression. Since this condition has a neurological component, it is very convenient for these people's symptoms to be discounted as signs of neurosis.

This condition is very real and it is horribly disabling and debilitating to those experiencing symptoms. The lack of medical support, family support, and social support can be incredibly isolating for people with this condition. This can heighten the suffering of those who are already in deep physical and mental pain.

There is a building body of research that is pointing to the likelihood that fibromyalgia is not an "auto-immune" disorder, but is instead caused by a number of different infectious pathogens. Some of the pathogens that may cause the symptoms of fibromyalgia are mycoplasmas and a variety of emerging bacteria that are transported by insects. These pathogens are not easily detected because they tend to reside inside our cells instead of in the bloodstream. Special testing methods are required to detect the specific pathogen that may be triggering symptoms for a person with fibromyalgia.

It also appears that the severity of symptoms a person has may be related to the number of different pathogens that the person has. A person can experience pain and other symptoms that are very resistant to conventional methods of treatment, because the pain can persist as long as the pathogenic load is not reduced. Simply suppressing symptoms such as pain does not work very well or work for very long for people with this condition.

One very effective way to manage fibromyalgia is through the use of essential oils. Essential oils can help people with fibromyalgia in a number of different ways. First of all, they can heal the pain of fibro. The pain relief people experience is frequently marked and rapid, even when the pain does not respond to heavy duty steroids or opiates. This in itself is a wonderful thing because pain can be addressed naturally, reducing the risk of unwanted side effects and reducing the risk of addiction to painkillers.

Another benefit of using essential oils is that the oils can have a marked effect on one's psychological and emotional state. This is due due to the fact that the molecules that compose the oils have the capacity to cross the blood-brain barrier, and positively effect the mind. The effects of the oils can range from relieving anxiety and improving sleep, to increasing concentration and relieving depression. The use of essential oils can alleviate many of the neuropsychiatric and emotional problems related to this condition that are most disconcerting to the patient and to the people surrounding her or him.

The essential oils are also very effective at improving the immune system response. This improves the body's ability to fight of any infectious processes that have taken a hold.

Many essential oils are also antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral, and are active against mycoplasmas. The oils directly kill the pathogens that may be disabling the person's health and well-being. People with fibromyalgia often respond to treatment with essential oils very quickly because the oils rapidly reduce the pathogenic load that is present in the body. Each essential oil is often active against a broad spectrum of pathogens, and when these oils are used in combination with each other, their ability to deal with a wide range of bacteria, fungi, and viruses is enhanced.

Essential oil therapy can result in increased energy, significant pain reduction, improved concentration, better memory, increased metabolism, better sleep, reduced anxiety, reduced depression, better range of motion, improved blood circulation, and a significantly better quality of life.

Because the pathogens that may be responsible for fibromyalgia are often quite resistant to treatment, the essential oils need to be used at a higher concentration than in traditional aromatherapy. Some of the oils that I have seen people respond well to include eucalyptus, frankincense, lemon, and lavender.

People with fibromyalgia often shy away from aromatherapy as an option because many of them are chemically sensitive and have strong reactions to fragrances. The essential oils are natural plant extracts that bear no resemblance to toxic chemical perfumes. When people with fibromyalgia have a temporary increase in symptoms, such as headache, when exposed to an essential oil, it is a detoxification response and a healing crisis response, not a result of chemical sensitivity. The difference is that the person may feel discomfort temporarily, but after that they feel a significant improvement. On the other hand, when the person is exposed to a synthetic chemical fragrance, the person will spiral downwards, because the chemical has increased, not decreased, the toxic load in the body.

Essential oils are potent multifaceted natural medicinals that are incredibly beneficial when addressing the complexity and diversity of symptoms that people with fibromyalgia experience. These powerful substitutes may offer hope to people who may have been hopeless in the face of their baffling and cunning illness, if they are open to a natural alternative.
